What is a VLCD
A very low calorie diet is essentially what the name suggests. The diet usually involves replacing normal food with low-calorie shakes, soups, bars, and or porridge. It is a rapid weight loss programme that restricts your calorie intake between 600 to 800, and is only recommended for those with a BMI over 30.
Prior to starting, you should talk to your doctor as a VLCD may not be suitable for you, and should only be followed for up to 12 weeks before taking a break.
Take a break every 12 weeks.

Cons of a VLCD
The diet is drastic and very restrictive. There is a list of not so nice side effects. The diet is not suitable for everyone and would be best discussed with a doctor first. Not recommended for BMI under 30. If not followed by a new eating regime, weight will be gained back very quickly. Also the amount of water you have to drink.
Oh so much water.
